In an exclusive interview for Revista del Color México, Manuel García Garza, president of the Board of Directors of the Mexican Association of Surface Finishing Industrialists (AMAS), and general director of the company Bright Finishing, shared details about the achievements and challenges facing the association, as well as its prospects for the Surface Finishing Mexico 2023 event.

Manuel García, who assumed the presidency of the Board of Directors of AMAS at the end of April of this year, highlighted the achievements that the association has achieved since its foundation nine years ago.

«The main objective of AMAS is to unite companies in the technical field of surface finishes, to join forces and aspire to larger projects in different industrial segments, from the commercial part to the automotive and aerospace sectors.»

Manuel emphasized the importance of AMAS in the context of growing economic integration and the increase of companies in Mexico because of nearshoring.

«Entrepreneurs that are in metal coatings and surface treatment are betting on having available capacity precisely to take advantage of these opportunities.» Manuel García

He highlighted that the association provides companies with a space to connect, share technical knowledge and build relationships with customers and end users.

Speaking about the Surface Finishing México 2023 event, organized by AMAS, García-Garza mentioned that they hope to break attendance records and offer conferences on current topics, such as coating technology for electric vehicles.

“In our turn we really see an incredible opportunity for plating on copper and on aluminum. An electric vehicle uses fibers, plastics, polymers, light metals such as magnesium, aluminum and some iron alloys, but light in weight.

He also emphasized the importance of Surface Finishing Mexico 2023 as a space to connect companies and promote business opportunities in the surface finishing industry.

Regarding AMAS’s plans, García Garza mentioned his focus on continuing to provide technical sessions and establishing a networking area for leading companies to present their needs and connect with the service offer.

He concluded by inviting everyone to meet and attend Surface Finishing Mexico 2023, which will take place in Guadalajara, highlighting the relevance of this event for the growth and consolidation of the surface finishing industry in the country. Manuel García
