2022 will be remembered as the year when the surface finishing industry in México successfully reactivated and strengthened, as external geopolitical factors, along an accelerated arrival of new investments to the country, began to take shape.
Starting 2022, just when it seemed that the restrictions imposed by the pandemic were behind us, there was a new rise in positive cases and hospitalizations, which caused FITMA, the first major industrial event of the year, to still be held with the measures and precautions imposed by the authorities of health. Even with that, reconnecting with the surface finishing community, and being able to greet them face to face, was very pleasant.
As the year progressed, health conditions improved as we begin learning good news about new investments, as well about new records in the production of products from different industries, featuring the automotive industry in the top positions as usual.
The city of Monterrey, México oversaw receiving visitors and exhibitors who met at Fabtech México 2022. In this event, specialized training courses were taught by industry professionals, with the support of American associations and institutes. During the three days that the exhibition lasted, the corridors full of visitors and great activity in the stands of the exhibitors were once again seen.
Reactivation Surface Finishing Industry
By the summer of 2022, there was a buzz about a phenomenon in the industry that was not expected to be seen in the picture: “nearshoring”, the relocation of companies from other countries to establish in Mexico began to be a reality for the finishing industry, which brought the challenge to offer solutions in an agile and efficient way.
In July, Monterrey once again welcomed finishing industry’s companies at Surface Finishing México 2022, organized by the Mexican Association of Surface Finishing (AMAS). Domestic and international exhibitors brought the latest industry innovations to share with its visitors.
Also, the major exhibition events organized by our related company in Vigo, Spain and Milan, Italy, were attended by Mexican companies, promoting the finishing industry in México and looking to boost the ongoing interest from European companies to land in Latin América.
It is gratifying to learn that most equipment manufacturers, as well as the rest of the industry companies, ended 2022 working at 100 percent capacity, sometimes even having to let projects pass by, due to a large pipeline ahead to be fulfilled.
